“why does your wife want a divorce?” the guru asked, referencing the previous koan.

“because,” the tortoise said, “she says that we were once a couple full of life and love for lettuce, and now all we do is plod along, day by day.”

the guru said, “you should do something sweet for her.”

so the tortoise went and found the biggest head of lettuce he could, and he rolled it all the way to his home, and he stood next to it and waited beside it for his wife, and when she came home from work at the foundation, and saw him sitting there beside the uneaten lettuce, she began to cry.

“this is how much i love you,” he said, and he offered her the first bite.

will this save their marriage? tweet @koanoftheday.
